About the Awards

Ciim Awards are sponsored by MG Trade, a young and dynamic Italian Company that invented , produces and distributes Alulife.

Alulife is a surprising material which recreates the idea of the space of design. The particular patented working changes the traditionally cold surface of aluminium into a warm and bright material. Alulife allows to apply wide surfaces of aluminium without interruption, fitting to any circumstances.

Alulife can be used both for internal and external spaces, giving the best expression to design: it is a revelation to get in touch with unexplored territories. From skyscrapers to swimming pools, from tables to doors, from shelves to any architectural detail. Everywhere at home, in business, commercial environments and so on.

Everywhere Alulife challenges the imagination of the designer.

The awards are designed by Massimo Malacrida, a prominent Italian designer.with a degree in Architecture from the 'Politecnico" of Milan with a major in industrial project and design. Among his professors, names like Marco Zanuso and Achille Castiglioni.

Massimo starts his professional activity in 1987 and concentrates on internal design and nautical design at first. He collaborates with major Italian and international nautical sites such as Molinari, Airon Marine, Diano Intermare, Societa navigazione Lago Lugano - Switzerland and Sinergia of Spain.

Massimo's accomplishments and research have been greatly influenced by his constant search and use of innovative and sub stainable materials. He also designed for companies like Fratelli Boffi, Alulife, Rapsel, Ycami, Orsogrill and Meroni. He collaborates with brands like Mercedes, Smart, Konig-Thule in designing and coordinating the artistic direction of exhibitions, showrooms and so forth.

In addition, he is a columnist for several nautical magazines with a particular attention on the research and the application of new materials. He also organizes contemporary art exhibitions where he would most often have a few of his own designs on display.
